1 cup frozen blueberries

1 ripe banana

1/2 cup Greek yogurt

1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

This smoothie is a great source of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, as well as protein and healthy fats. Blueberries are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese, the banana is a good source of potassium and Greek yogurt provides a good source of protein. Almond milk is a good source of healthy fats and the protein powder (if added) will provide extra protein which is essential for muscle recovery and growth. The smoothie contains around 300 calories, making it a good option for a meal replacement or post-workout snack.

You can also add other ingredients to this smoothie recipe to increase the micronutrient content and calorie count. Here are a few suggestions:

Spinach or Kale

These leafy greens are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron and calcium. They add a boost of nutrition without changing the flavour of the smoothie.

Chia Seeds

These small seeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, and antioxidants. They also provide a source of plant-based protein and can help keep you feeling full longer.

Flaxseeds

These seeds are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, lignans and dietary fibres. They add a nice crunch to the smoothie and are a great source of nutrition

Avocado

Avocado is a good source of healthy fats, potassium and fibre. It will make the smoothie creamier and more filling

Nut Butter

Adding a tablespoon of nut butter, such as peanut, almond, or sunflower seed butter, will increase the calorie count and provide a source of healthy fats and protein

Berries

Berries such as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries or cranberries will provide a boost of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

By experimenting with different ingredients, you can create a smoothie that not only tastes delicious but also provides a wide variety of micronutrients and a good amount of calories.
